Envirofone Search Begins for Recycling Stars

An advertising campaign which hopes to promote cell phone recycling recently launched a search to find talent for its upcoming commercials.  Envirofone, which is an online telephone recycling service, is looking for ten talented individuals to star in its commercials which aim to educate the public on the things that they can do to help the environment.   Hopeful actors will compete for one of the ten spots in the commercials, which will air sometime in early 2010.

There is no age restriction for the competition which seeks to find youthful, energetic individuals who will stress the importance of individual responsibility in recycling.  The promotion comes at an ideal time, as a recent study reported that individuals in the United Kingdom are some of the worst at recycling mobile phones.  In fact, it is estimated that ninety million mobile phones are sitting unused in homes around the United Kingdom.

Envirofone’s only requirement for the audition is that applicants are current customers, or those willing to demonstrate and prove that they have a dedication to environmental issues.  Envirofone, which currently offers customers money for their old cell phones, hopes that the ad campaign will not only raise its profile, but also bring this very serious issue to a larger audience.

The United Kingdom was criticized recently for its failure to meet many of the European Union’s recycling requirements, which set goals for each country individually.  Especially troubling was the UK’s failure to recycle small electronic devices like mobile phones and MP3 players.
