They have coupled with Cartridge World, an IT supplier, to offer prizes to the company which demonstrates exemplary effort in recycling and reducing its carbon footprint. The contest will not just measure recycling but will also give points for the office which uses innovative measures to reduce its impact on the environment, such as finder greener ways for their employees to travel.
The competition is open to any type of business of any size, as the organizers to not want to discriminate against smaller companies, or those from businesses not normally connected to environmental issues. Co2Balance is a company that tries to assist businesses in offsetting their carbon footprint. They offer companies options for donations or other ways they can get involved to balance out any damage they may have done to the environment. This has been a popular way for companies to continue practices like having private jets, but allow them to undo some of their impact.
Each entrant to the competition will be required to write an essay which details all of the things their office is doing to become greener. They will also be required to provide proof that any of the environmental policies that they have enacted have actually produced positive results.
