Recycling centers cutting on weights

Imagine diligently collecting garbage and trashed cans, working on cleaning them and crushing them to then send them across to the recycling centers. Upon getting there, you discover the weight you had calculated for your bag of crushed cans is different from what they calculate. A couple in their eighties have been collecting aluminum cans; crushing them before handing them over to the recycling centers as a way of raising money for their church. They walk around their neighborhood to pick up these cans and tins, apart from the ones they get from their friends and family members. These are dropped off in front of their garage, so they can be crushed and put into bags.

The cans are all crushed using the manual wooden machine that the husband had invented, which is said to be very efficient. The tabs from the cans are sent to this machine, which are then crushed and put into separate bags. When the bags are done, they are weighed and taken to recycling centers. But it was discovered that most of the people and trucks that brought in such items where cheated. This was through the weighing scale, where the person in charge did not weight them properly, thereby shortchanging each member. The bags would be hitting the ground or be held by the person in charge while weighing and finally the couple decided to approach another recycling center for fair deals, and all they earned was 60cents for a pound of crushed cans.
