One more company that has joined the bandwagon to do their share of promoting recycling and cutting down on waste. Samsung Electronics America has taken upon itself to begin the Samsung Takeback and Recycle (STAR) project, through which they will invite customers to return old and used ink toner cartridges. This applies to both individuals and businesses that have been using Samsung’s range of products, primarily DeskJet and laser printers. This program is to take back all the reusable emptied toner cartridges, and then sell them to companies that are into recycling, so they can make something out of it. STAR program encourages the customers to follow the address given on the cartridge boxes to ship their used cartridges to. Upon placing the used cartridge in a new box, the customer can get in touch with FedEx for free pick up from their address and delivery to Samsung
Or if they are unable to find a FedEx location near their place, they can access Samsung’s online support, and print out an all expense paid FedEx shipping tag for use. This is also applicable in case the customer wants to create their own label and print it out. Since most of the used toner and cartridges are thrown out into the trash can, this will help reduce the waste by nearly 60%. The cartridges will be collected and reprocessed in a safe manner, which also works at keeping the environment clean and trash free adding to the effectiveness of this mission.
