ZTE is China’s largest producer of telecommunications devices. While it’s certainly not unusual for a company of ZTE’s size and power to have an in-house recycling program, what is unusual is their design of production and manufacturing processes which minimize their environmental impact. For example, many of ZTE’s mobile phones use modular parts, which are readily interchangeable between units which makes it easier to recycle old mobile phones. This lowers the production and material cost, as well as streamlining the production process.

This also means that when recycling mobile phones, a ZTE phone is more likely to have a part that is able to be reused. Allowing the reuse of many of the parts of a mobile phone helps to ensure that the components have a longer shelf life, allowing them to be used for a longer period of time before becoming obsolete and requiring redesign.

ZTE’s Guideline For Design For Reuse requires that all products minimize the use of new materials and new components by designing more modular and upgradeable parts list. For this reason, ZTE has seen a great deal of growth since instituting this program in 2002. A commitment to green production design, and enforcing tighter production tolerances by choice, instead of by mandate, will ensure that ZTE doesn’t get caught unaware when sweeping changes make green mobile phone design a requirement. Because ZTE chooses to follow eco-friendly production and recycling programs now, it gives them a leg up on future changes in environmental regulations.

Some companies also offer recycled mobile phones for sale. To check if ZTE offer this visit their website.

Vodafone, headquartered in England is the second largest mobile telecommunications group in the world. Servicing clients in several different markets, Vodafone is dedicated to making the world a better place through the promotion of mobile phone recycling. Vodafone has not only promoted recycling but has taken and extra step in working with charitable organizations to aid these efforts.

In 2005, Vodafone partnered with England’s National Autistic Society to collect phones. All money received from the recycling of these mobile phones was donated to the non-profit organization that works with autistic children in the UK. Vodafone donations are completed through a third party company, Fonebak, which dismantles and reuses parts when possible and disposes of unsalvageable phones as mandated by recycling laws. Mobile phone recycling for charity is a good way to dispose of an old mobile phone.

This is not the only step Vodafone has taken toward helping the environment. In an effort to become a “green” company Vodafone has put programs in place to recycle everything from office equipment such as desks to computers and their various component parts. By reselling these parts Vodafone can ensure that their equipment doesn’t end up in a landfill. Vodafone has also reduced the size of the packaging and looks for new ways each day to make production more efficient.

These measures are just one of the many reasons Vodafone is one of the largest, most successful mobile phone companies in the world. Vodafone even includes a return envelope with new phone purchases to make the recycling process easier for customers or allows them to drop the phones in a Vodafone store for recycling mobile phones.

Following a declaration of bankruptcy in late 2006 Korean owned VK Mobile closed its doors. While they are no longer providing new devices for consumers, VK mobile still has phones in operation today. Over the course of time these phones will become obsolete or stop working which means consumers will be forced to throw their VK mobiles in the bin. Of course, there are other options for VK mobile phone users such as recycling.

Due to increasing environmental concerns mobile phone manufacturers are now being pressured into promoting mobile phone recycling programs. These programs, which are in place around the world, provide a smart solution for mobile phone disposal. When these phones are donated to mobile recycling programs they are first checked to see if they can be salvaged or refurbished and sold for discounted prices. If this is not an option, the phone will be dismantles and used for its individual component parts. Parts that can be reused will be used to repair old phones or may even go toward the manufacturing of new phones.

It’s the hope of mobile manufacturers that one day all phones will be made from reused and recycled parts. This would greatly cut operational costs and would help companies like the now defunct VK mobile stay in business instead of filing for bankruptcy. Having mobile phones completely made of recycled parts would be a great step toward the elimination of electronic waste. If you have a VK mobile phone, do your part and donate it to one of any national programs for mobile recycling or recycle your mobile phone for charity.

How convenient would it be if you got an envelope to send back your old phone when you purchased a new one? You wouldn’t have to waste valuable time running around town trying to locate a mobile phone recycling drop off box. You could just drop your old phone in the mail and never worry about it landing in a landfill site somewhere. Sounds like a great idea, right? That’s what Virgin Mobile thought too. Recently this company started including envelopes to be used for the recycling of your mobile phone in the boxes of all new phones sold by the company. Customers aren’t forced to log on to a website and print a mailing label for return. Virgin takes care of it all.

When you send your phone back in the convenient envelope, Virgin will do everything in their power to save the phone. In some cases old phones can be refurbished and resold at a fraction of the original retail price. In other cases pieces of the phone can be reused to repair other customer’s mobile devices. If Virgin cannot fix your mobile phone they will recycle the phone through one of their many partners. While other companies take the money that is earned from recycling and put it back into the company Virgin Mobile donates the proceeds to local charities that work with them as part of the Regeneration program, so its a good idea to recycle an old mobile phone for charity. These programs work to help disadvantaged and homeless children in some of the world’s larges cities.

Most mobile phone users have a hard time paying full retail price for new phones. With prices for smart phones and web enabled phones increasing each year most wait until they are eligible for a contract upgrade before they commit to a new device. There are a select few that can and will pay several thousand pounds for a new mobile phone; these consumers are the proud owners of Vertu mobile phones.

Vertu has been providing state of the art mobile phones with cool services such as concierge for nearly a decade to those living in Europe. While only a small percentage of the population can afford these devices, Vertu still promotes mobile phone recycling programs. Consumers that purchase a Vertu phone and no longer need it or no longer use it can expect to get a nice profit if they participate in a mobile phone recycling for cash program.

If you have a Vertu phone and don’t want to settle for mere pennies on the pound for your recycling you might even try taking it to a jeweller. Since Vertu phones are often adorned with diamonds, sapphires, and other gemstones a jeweller might be able to provide you with more cash for your phone. If you are paying upwards of £45,000 for a mobile phone you deserve to have at least some of your money returned when you can no longer use the phone. Vertu phones are currently sold through high priced retail chains and company owned stores. It may not be as easy as taking it to a mobile phone recycling bin but recycling your old Vetru mobile phone is still the best option.

You just purchased the newest greatest mobile phone but now don’t know what to do with the old one. Well, if you are a customer with a Toshiba mobile phone, computer, PDA, or Camera your life just got easier. As part of the Toshiba commitment to reducing waste they have started offering a trade in program that allows for mobile phone recycling as well as the recycling of other electronic items.

Consumers who are interested can log onto the Toshiba website and see if their electronic item can be traded in for money or credit toward a new device. Credits are awarded based on the condition and the physical condition of the device, whether it works or not, its age, and the type of technology used to power it. The best part is that Toshiba does not care if your mobile phone is manufactured by them or not, regardless of who made the mobile phone you might still be able to recycle old mobile phones for cash.

If Toshiba determines that your mobile phone has no monetary value they will still help you find a local vendor that will recycle your mobile phone responsibly. The only difference between this program and programs sponsored by other manufacturers is that if the phone has no monetary value and you decide to ship it to Toshiba you will be required to pay the shipping cost because of the limited number of mobile phones sold by the company. Toshiba will however cover the cost on shipping of all computer components or music players should you choose to recycle mobile phones via mail.

There are very few mobile companies that have their own in house recycling program. Most just take advantage of services that allow you to recycle your phone for cash or rely on third party companies to collect and recycle your mobile phone. While these programs are great, T-Mobile has gone the extra mile to become one of only a handful of manufacturers with their own programs in place.

The T-Mobile Handset recycling program encourages T-Mobile users, along with users of other manufactured devices to drop off their old unused mobile phones for recycling. Customers can participate at any T-Mobile retail store or they have the option to send their phone to T-Mobile via mail. Those who choose to recycle via mail can print off a postage paid label through the company website. Once the company collects devices for mobile phone recycling they are disposed of in a manner that is not harmful to the environment. As mobile phones become more and more popular the need for these programs in increasing exponentially and T-Mobile wants to make sure they are doing their part to save the environment.

Money made from recycling mobile phones is put toward the T-Mobile Huddle Up Program. This program gives back to the community through helping single parent households. In addition the Huddle Up program donates funds to afterschool programs designed to enrich the lives of youth in the communities where T-Mobile has stores. Working with local organizations T-Mobile employs help to make the world a brighter place.

As more and more mobile phone companies come on the market, selling over a billion new mobile phones total each year, it’s easy to see why landfills are filling up with millions of pounds of waste mobile electronics. Mobile electronics are very dangerous when put in a landfill site, not only because of the flammability of their batteries, but because of the toxicity of the devices themselves. Many of these devices contain palladium, trace amounts of arsenic, and other unfriendly substances.

While they’re perfectly safe to use, mobile phones contain a toxic mixture that can leech out of them as they decompose in a landfill. The plastics and electronic components contain toxins, as well as heavy metals such as gold and silver. Combine this with the copper wiring and other metals, and it can be quite a dangerous combination. However, with proper mobile phone recycling, such as that being performed in the EU, those dangerous chemicals and toxins can be rendered inert, and the environmental impact reduced.

Companies that recycle mobile phones such as CellForCash and TalkGreen are wonderful companies, both of which will pay you for your used cell phones. If they’re in good condition, free of problems, and functional, those companies will pay you for your old mobile, then break them down and sell them for the raw materials. In this way, not only can you as a consumer be more responsible with your waste electronics products, you can recycle your mobile phone for cash!

In the last year Sony has come to realise that consumer waste, especially waste created by mobile phones, is growing rapidly and has made a commitment to help try and decrease this problem. Beginning in late 2007 Sony partnered with electronics recycling centres to provide consumers in the United States and Canada with a safe option for disposing of their unused mobile phones. The Sony Take Back Recycling program worked with Waste Management to provide nearly 100 drop off locations for mobile phone recycling across the nation. The main goal of this program is to offset new products with the recycling of old mobile phones. Sony hopes that for each pound of phones sold the same amount will be recycled through their program.

While this mobile phone recycling program is a huge part of Sony’s recycling initiative it isn’t the only recycling program Sony is working on. As one of the largest computer retailers in North America Sony has started a similar project with notebook computers. Consumers can now trade in their old notebook computers for credit toward newer models. This helps eliminate ewaste created by millions of computers that are no longer able to be used. Credits are issued based on the condition and newness of the notebook being traded in. Sony hopes to become one of the world’s leading companies when it comes number of mobile phones that are recycled each year and with programs such as these in place these dreams are destined to become a reality.

Sony Ericsson has long been a leader in the development and implementation of mobile phone recycling programs. They recognized the problem of impending climate changes and over a decade ago began offering end-of-life recycling services for their products. This came even before the EU resolution demanding that mobile phone companies offer company-sponsored and funded recycling of mobile phones. Sony Ericsson participates in most of the optional schemes in many countries around the world.

Sony Ericsson is committed to working with all EU countries, as well as the US, to reduce and recycle mobile phone waste. In addition to these recycling steps, an important step in the process is the active reduction of harmful chemicals in mobile devices. By reducing the number of harmful chemicals and heavy metals present in mobile devices, Sony Ericsson makes it easier and less expensive to recycle mobile phones. Sony Ericsson also works together with international entities, such as the United Nations Environmental Program, to develop processes for proper management of products for recycling and re-use.

Sony Ericsson has a commitment to excellence and sustainability that should be the envy of many mobile phone providers. By taking an active role in the recycling process, Sony Ericsson is ensuring its place in the world as one of the leading environmentally conscious companies. Of course, since environmentally-friendly technologies are the wave of the future, they won’t be poorly placed to continue in their role as a world leader in mobile devices.

While not a traditional mobile phone, these devices nonetheless do, by necessity, contain a number of harmful chemicals.

Because of this, it’s important that, when the time comes to upgrade your aircard you do it responsibly. Sierra offers a number of recycling options, many of which are free to the customer. In Europe, the EU has developed an anti-pollution measure called The Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment measure. This measure is enforced in all EU nations, requires that all mobile phone manufacturers pay for the collection of all mobile phones and mobile devices. When it comes to recycling mobile phones, the EU leads the world in enforcement of these necessary measures, ensuring the as much waste as possible is kept from landfills.

Because of this measure by the EU, companies that do business in EU countries treat their recycling programs a bit differently. Instead of having to send you mobile phone off to a third party company you simply call Sierra, for example, and tell them that you want to recycle your mobile. They will mail you a self-addressed stamped envelope, and you simply have to return it with your mobile inside. Companies such as Sierra often offer incentives in the form of product credits, meaning that you may qualify for a discount on your new mobile device if you recycle through the company.

When was the last time you thought about your old mobile phones? Have you ever considered what happens to them after you throw them in the rubbish? If you are like most mobile users you probably never dreamed that there would be a day when mobile phone recycling would be mandatory. We haven’t reached that point yet, but many countries and several states have made mobile phone recycling programs one of the top environmental issues.

So why the push for these recycling programs? Each year millions of pounds of electronic waste end up in landfills across the globe and over time this waste, which is made up of computers and mobile phones, begins to degrade. As this happens harmful chemicals, especially those in mobile phone batteries, begin to leach into the earth creating problems.

Like most other mobile phone manufactures Siemens does not have an in house mobile recycling program though they do encourage customers to use the resources of other recycling programs to dispose of their mobile phones. Siemens wants consumers to recycle their mobile phones by placing them in one of any drop off bins or donating them to a local charity that will then turn in the phones to an approved recycler to earn cash.

If you think your Siemens phone still has monetary worth you can participate in a program that does mobile phone recycling for cash. These programs are popular with consumers who have newer model phones. The best part is these companies pay for shipping and deposit the money into your bank account in just a few days.
