How convenient would it be if you got an envelope to send back your old phone when you purchased a new one? You wouldn’t have to waste valuable time running around town trying to locate a mobile phone recycling drop off box. You could just drop your old phone in the mail and never worry about it landing in a landfill site somewhere. Sounds like a great idea, right? That’s what Virgin Mobile thought too. Recently this company started including envelopes to be used for the recycling of your mobile phone in the boxes of all new phones sold by the company. Customers aren’t forced to log on to a website and print a mailing label for return. Virgin takes care of it all.
When you send your phone back in the convenient envelope, Virgin will do everything in their power to save the phone. In some cases old phones can be refurbished and resold at a fraction of the original retail price. In other cases pieces of the phone can be reused to repair other customer’s mobile devices. If Virgin cannot fix your mobile phone they will recycle the phone through one of their many partners. While other companies take the money that is earned from recycling and put it back into the company Virgin Mobile donates the proceeds to local charities that work with them as part of the Regeneration program, so its a good idea to recycle an old mobile phone for charity. These programs work to help disadvantaged and homeless children in some of the world’s larges cities.
