Tamworth Borough Council has been working hard to provide a great waste management strategy so that residents in the area can recycle with ease. They have made great progress improving their performance over the last five years, when in 2004 they started providing waste collection on an alternate weekly basis, as well as expanded the collection of dry recyclables each week.
Also since the year 2003/04, the recycling rate for the area of Tamworth increased from 9.6% to 38.3% in the 2006/07 year. Plus, there was a reduction in the amount of waste that is produced by households by 3% during this same period of time. However, Tamworth Borough Council is hoping to achieve a 40% recycling rate for 2008/09, and by 2011/12 they hope to reach 50%.
Every week collectors pick up the blue boxes with your recyclable waste in them. To have your box of recyclables collected, make sure the bin is placed at the edge of your property by 7am. The bin should not be overfilled or have any additional waste inside or beside it, such as garden waste, as this is not permitted. Products like rubble, timber, and bricks are not to be put in the bin either. Any excess waste is to be taken to the Household Waste Site.
Businesses are also able to use the recycling services provided by Tamworth Borough Council. No matter how big or small your business is, you have a legal responsibility to safely dispose of waste. Disposing of the waste is not hard at all, as there is plenty of information on the council’s website (below) that can help you with that.
