Recycle Waste Newham London Borough Council Recycle Program

If you live in Newham London Borough you already know that recycling is important to sustainable existence. However, if you are just visiting you might be surprised to learn just how focused this borough is on the environment and reducing the amount of waste collected in the UK. This borough has everything from curbside collections of orange recycling bags to over 150 recycling drop off locations in the area. The mayor of London has even gotten tech savvy residents interested by providing a service where they can text their postal code and find recycling centers in the vicinity. This means that those living and working in this area have no excuse for not recycling.

Newham borough has taken the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle campaign even farther by setting up freecycling services. These services match people who are looking to throw away still useful items with consumers who are looking for the same products; a worldwide network of freecyclers trade goods at absolutely no cost to either party. Locally a group known as the Wombles provides the same services and aim to make all household goods reusable. They donate household items such as refrigerators and other appliances to local church groups, schools, and charities. The Wombles, or Newham Community Recycling, also hold a charity auction with all proceeds going to local charities or back into the company so that they can remain in service to the Newham community. This small group of just a few men has made living in the Newham borough a great experience for the environmentally conscious.
