Parents love to spoil their children by giving them a lot of toys, especially at christmas and on their birthdays. Toys accumulate over the years and then get forgotten when the children grow up. Damaged and partly damaged toys almost always end up in landfills, adding their own bulk and weight to these overflowing landfills. Of course, some of them are non-biodegradable, especially those made from plastic. These discarded toys do their own damage to the environment.
