Everyone knows how important it is to recycle bottles but I wonder if you are doing it? You are not alone if you are thinking I just do not have the time or it is easier to put it in with the trash and let someone else deal with it. Of course, many people have the same chaotic lifestyle, and sometimes finding the time to recycle your bottles may not be one of your top priorities.
However, it does not have to be an inconvenience with the many options now available to make recycling that little bit easier. Your community is no doubt trying to make it easier for you to recycle your bottles and if you are unable to make it to your local recycle bank then there may be other options.
Using the recycle banks for your bottles is probably the most obvious way and no doubt you have seen them as you pass your local store or enter your local gas station, but of course not everyone will remember to grab their bottles when they are heading for the door.
This is where plastic bags come in handy, your local council may already be supplying recycling bags for your bottles and you just have not noticed. This is the most convenient way to recycle your bottles, if you are given a plastic bag then all you need to do is separate your bottles from your waste, pop them in the bag and take them outside ready to be collected. It really is a simple process.
If on the other hand this is not available for you, then were back to the recycle banks again. You can limit your time spent recycling by collecting your bottles on a daily or weekly basis and then when you are passing by your local recycle bank, pop them in.
I know what you are thinking, I do not want empty bottles lying around the home. It does not need to be an inconvenience just allocate a small area for your home bottle bank and be on your way.
So you are now wanting to do your bit for the environment, you therefore need to prepare your bottles ready for recycling. Something that does not have to be a chore either, the first thing you need to do is rinse out your bottles. Rinse it a few times with water to remove any liquid that is left inside, if you are going to be storing them for a little while then do not use soap as this can make them smell.
You will then need to remove all caps and labels on the bottle and pop them into your home bottle bank ready for pick up or if you need to drop them off at your local recycle bank.
It does not have to add too much extra time to your day and you really will be contributing that little bit extra to the environment and to the landfills that are full of our waste, let’s hope now you are doing it.
