As the population grows, more and more people are purchasing cars . Because the tyres on cars get damaged from constant traveling , car owners have to now and then change their tyres so that their car is always in good working condition. New tyres keep the driver and the passengers safe as it provides good traction and minimizes skidding, especially on wet or snow covered streets. But what happens to the old tyres?
The old fashioned way of getting rid of them is by incinerating them, but this process increases pollution as toxic fumes can spread and do damage to the environment. But that was the old-fashioned method of disposing of tyres.
Nowadays, you can recycle tyres, and many companies have seen the benefits that recycling old tyres can give. Aside from helping reduce the amount of waste products that take up so much space in the landfills and helping reduce pollution in the long run, recycling tyres are also being used in various products. For one, the crumbs that come from recycling tyres can be used as an adhesive for tiles. They can be also be blended in with asphalt for the construction and repair of roads. Playground matting and products that are used as insulation from noises and vibrations also make use of these crumbs. These precious crumbs are also used in carpet underlays to keep the carpet in place.
These crumbs are now being fondly called “The New Black Gold” because of its many uses.
