Recycling glass is unfortunately one that tends to get forgotten and it is not that surprising when you think about having glass lying around the home waiting to be recycled but do you realize the benefits of recycling glass?
There are numerous reasons why we should be recycling glass and though here are just a few, I can assure you there are many more. First of all when companies are creating new glass they have to heat it to 2600 degrees Fahrenheit, I am sure you are now remembering when you when did this at school but we can often forget this. So can you imagine the amount of pollution being created from that and the amount of energy being consumed from factories all over the world. I agree it is rather hard to imagine.
Secondly, were back to imagination again but we also know that our waste is disposed off in landfills and though landfills are probably not something you need to worry about often, they get left alone full of our waste for years and years to come and end up using a lot of space. Just the same as when your recycled glass is deposited to the landfills, it is left there for years and years to come and using up space, when actually your recycled glass could be used again to make new glass items and even used to create sports turf.
So with just a few important reasons out of many more, it is not difficult to see that you really should be doing a little bit more and recycling glass. It is a pretty simple process, so no need to fear because really all you need to do is remove any top that may be on a glass container and rinse the glass.
Depending on your local council and their specific requirements, you may need to separate the glass colors, such as keep the green glass separate from the clear glass. There are also some glass items that can not be recycled things like mirrors and light bulbs, but I am sure you will be able to find some information about recycling your glass in your local community or even on the internet.
Once you have done this, then you can take it to your local recycling bank to deposit it, of course this does not have to be a bother, just when you are next on your way then remember to take it with you and drop it in. It may be feasible to do this during the day though if you do not intend waking the neighbors.
The benefits to recycling glass are endless and it is something that gets put to one side, but if you can try and set aside a little bit of time to take part in recycling glass, then your contributions will not only be helping the environment and whatever more but you may feel like you are doing your part.
