what do I do with a broken iron?

What am I supposed to do with a broken iron? Just lob it in the bin??? Have replaced iron as was told it would cost too much to repair (such is our moden world that we buy new when stuff breaks down! That MUST contribute to all the stuff chucked out each year?!)

Any ideas?

Hi there,
One idea would be to use it as a doorstop, if it is one of the old-fashioned heavy ones. Or even as a paperweight.
If it is a very old one that has lasted you quite a while, you could offer it to the original manufacturer for their showcase, enclosing your own story on how well/or not, it lasted.
Or you could scavenge any of the parts from it; cable, plug etc. and offer those to Recycle members.

regards,
