I am sure I heard on a TV show recently that it takes 400 years for a plastic carrier bag in landfill to decompose. Does anyone out there know if this is true? Just want to get my facts straight!

Well they do say our bodies are taking longer too - maintly because of all the E additives and preservatives we are consuming in food.
With regard to the plastic bags here is a web search link: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&r...ag&btnG=Search |

PS I think Tescos are now using bio degradable material for the plastic bags. I know I had some things wrapped and put away using their bags for about 12 months or more and the whole bag disintegrated like confetti. Perhaps that is another thing to web search.
Not sure what I am going to put my non recycleable waste in though before it goes in the rubbish bin. |
