D: Furniture Recycling

Hiya, just wanted to let you know about the new venture that has started up here on the Isle Of Bute, off the west coast of Scotland. A few years ago, a small group started to collect tin cans and paper to recyle them and this has grow over the years to now become an island wide project where we do doorstep collections for paper,cardboard, milk cartons, plastic bottles etc. We have recently opened a small shop to sell furniture that would otherwise end up in the landfill! I volunteer in the shop 3 days a week and even though we have only been going for about 6 weeks we have proved that there is a need for something like this as we have been quite busy!!!
Are there any other small scale recycling schemes out there - I'd like to compare notes!!
