Global Warming
Hi,
Just wanted to see if anyones out there to start a discussion. I am passionate about recycling and beleive we should use as much natural resources as possible. However I do think that Global Warming is a myth. I accept that the climate is changing but I beleive that it is a natural part of the earth's cycle and that we are acually headed for an ice age. |

interesting point you have, but may i ask why do you think we are heading for an ice ages when it feels as though it is getting hotter ?
thanks paul

That's the whole point.
Most people think if it get's hotter the earth will dry up or we will all flood due to the ice caps melting. But the earth has never lost or gained any water since it's creation (according to scientists who shouldn't be trusted). What happens is the ice caps melt some more, rain increases due to the increase in melted ice. Only it doesn't rain on the ice caps or other glaciers because the temperature is still freezing, it comes down as snow and will compact on the existing ice - therefore incresing the ice caps. That will be the danger, ice not flooding. But it's not all doomsday as we did survive that last ice age! Tutilo |

global warming reply
i do a lot of research into recycling, global warming and climate change, as i own a website about them. Global warming is sometimes said to be the earths natural way of life. climate change is also natural, but many people say that climate change is caused by global warming, which in a few ways, i don't doubt. But global warming can't be happening as fast as people are saying it has been. But if it isn't just earth doing its thing then we have to act. A lot of people care and want to do a load of things to stop it, but what exactly can we do, apart from cut down our use of things that emit greenhouse gases. I'm not really sure whether or not i think it is because of us or earths natural way, but I think it is is happening.

I do not believe global warming is a myth but a reality - man is aiding the speeding up of natural process - I believe there is much we can do to slow it down, recycling is but one method, it will be too late to make any difference at all because many people think and have thought it is a myth.
The scientist back in the 60s were making noises about the problem, it took them 30 years for UK government to take any notice, possibly a question of ignorance is bliss. I confirm global warming is not a myth - it is a reality. Every 60000+ years' or so the sun spots do increase and the earth is affected by temperature change - I think the trees and the ice do not lie. Man has left a humongous footprint and a rather too large hole in the ozone, although I do think that has reduced recently. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&r...& btnG=Search |

The world is part of a negative feedback loop that is ultimately based on a chaos system. The huge number of factors that are responsible for governing the temperature are in a constant state of fluctuation. As carbon dioxide and methane levels where higher in the past, so plants grew more, so the oceans became larger, in turn locking carbon dioxide up in the exoskeletons of marine zooplankton and the bodies of trees. Only at the current stage do we have this particular set of conditions, increased carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels, loss of plant life due to deforestation, damage of marine ecosystems. All these are causing changes to the planet, I do not know what the consequences are likely to be. However, to state that climate change or global warming does not exist is a bit like saying you do not believe in a round earth. Global warming keeps the surface temperate between -80 and 50 degrees celcius. If it did not occur then we would be too cold for life. Climate change has happened countless times in the past. All we can do is try to think more about our position as a sentient creature on a planet that is, after all, our home and therefore requires that we are a little more delicate in how we place our footprints.
