You could try ringing some local schools to see if they would be able to reuse them (staff often want to tape programmes & documentaries to use in class) ... otherwise I was able to recycle bagloads of old audio tape cassettes a couple of years ago through a company called Grundon - they had plastics recycling collections at my local tip in West London, and at a nearby Tesco, and they were very helpful on the phone when I rang to check if it was ok to give them the tapes ... their general enquiries number is 0870 443 8278 - I'm not sure where you live, but they have a number of facilities, so they may have a collection site near you and should be able to take old video tapes as well - however they will simply be recycled as mixed plastics, not reused as 'high quality' tapes, so perhaps schools would be a better option? If no luck, getting recycled is better than going in the bin!
