Millions of pounds of electronic waste are disposed of each year but only a small percentage is recycled. Most consumers don’t realize there are recycling programs for everything from their mobile phone to their laptop computers. In order to get the word out about the impact of electronic waste companies like Sony are joining with waste management companies and developing in house programs to educate consumers.
Sony recently partnered with Waste Management, one of the largest waste removal companies, to provide safe disposal of unused Sony electronics. All a user has to do is take their Sony branded device to a Waste Management eCycling drop-off center. For those who do not have these centers in their area Sony offers other choices for recycling.
The Sony trade in program allows those who already own a Sony laptop computer to trade in their old device for credit towards a new Vaio laptop. The trade in program can be used in two different ways. The most popular way to trade in is to visit the company webpage. Through the page a buyer can find a new computer, calculate the trade in value of their old device, and apply to receive credit. The second way is to visit a Sony Style store. Once at the store the old computer will be assessed to determine the trade in value and a gift card will be provided for any Sony Style merchandise.
Instead of adding more to the landfill act responsibly and use the Sony laptop recycling programs.
