Without a processor a laptop computer is worthless and Intel is the largest manufacturer of processors across the globe. While Intel itself does not manufacture computers they are still a major part of the industry and thus are committed to helping reduce the amount of electronic waste.

Intel uses a variety of in house programs to reduce waste from the manufacturing of their laptop parts. These programs include reusing packaging materials when shipping processors to laptop manufacturer as well as recycling nearly all of their waste. In addition Intel works to compost any food waste generated by employees at their two manufacturing facilities.

Each year Intel takes part in the Plug-In to eCycling campaign which promotes recycling of laptop and desktop computers that contain Intel processors. The programs focus on educating consumers on the need for ewaste recycling and by sponsoring drop off donation programs across the globe.

Owners with laptops containing Intel processors are encouraged to recycle their laptops as well as laptop batteries by either participating in a manufacturer sponsored take back initiative or by dropping their devices in an approved bin for collection and proper disposal. Another way to act responsibly is to donate laptop computers that are still in working order. Many organizations will accept the device if it is in good condition. Most of these programs work to give computers to those less fortunate.
