Many throughout the world see the US as public enemy number one and this has probably been put into touch (especially in the UK) with the way the oil spill was handled. We can all talk about the approach (or lack thereof) that the US president took, but the media highlighted the American populations ignorance when interviewing them about BP. The ironic thing is that BP is 50% owned by the US population, who all have it's shares in their pensions schemes.

With regards to the President's handling of the situation, I believe that he was correct in his approach and certainly took a hard stance against BP. However, BP on the other hand were not proactive enough and given their drilling rights certainly failed in their PR when it came to the American public. The real problem throughout all this was the media, who simply had a feeding frenzy and ensured that the Obama Administratin suffered. My disappointment falls with America as a whole who have failed in realising how important Obama is to the way the rest of the world views the US. He's been very proactive in the way he's represented the US to the rest of the world, yet many Americans fail to grasp the importance of this. You guys may have the weapons and R&D, but in the grand scheme of things, you're just another country.

It's all well and good talking about offsetting the carbon footprint which is lovely. My question from the very beginning is what is going to happen to these stadiums now that the World cup is over.

I mean come on – are any of these stations really viable?

The only good thing I can see is on a humanitarian level where now there is a much larger awareness of what goes on in Africa. I wouldn’t say they showed all the nitty gritty – but they did do a very good job of marketing.

If investments can be made in schools, infrastructure and hospitals from foreign investors – then I think the upheaval and damage done from this event would have well been worth what in my eyes was short of a massacre on the environment.

What a great opportunity to address recycling. . .

I done some research recently which stated that if we recycled just our tin cans – we’d have 14 million fewer bins to empty each year.

So what sort of agencies are involved? Do they have bins just for cans? Bins for paper? I’m sure there are a number of companies that would come and collect for free as the revenue they could make on the back end would be worth the investment.

At the same time as a large company – to give something back to the community is always a feel good factor. . . ..

I don't see why electronics like phones and computers aren't recycled instead of being thrown away in many cases - they can be recycled and there are companies that recycle them, so why not?

I couldn't disagree more.

Nuclear power is the only cost effective alternative to dirty coal. There have been remarkably few casualties from nuclear accidents compared to coal power stations and mining accidents.

And the problem of nuclear waste is nothing compared to the CO2 pollution of coal powered stations. It will be dangerous if we continue to spread this nonsense about nuclear power when we need to embrace it to have any chance of solving anthropogenic global warming.

We haven't ever bought our cat any cat litter, we have always used things like shredded up paper and it works just fine.

As for our dog, every couple of weeks we give him one of our childrens (now grown up) old cuddley toys that he can use as a toy. This not only saves us money but also saves us buying toys that will need throwing away within a week or two.

the amount of clothing bags we receieve through the door at home is unbelievable. The clothing recycling trade has been seen as many as easy money, and have such jumped on the bandwagon, so you do have to do your homework as to where the clothing will end up. The salvation army bins in the UK do a massive trade and they utilise links within europe to send bags out to the less fortunate and ensure the clothing gets reused. Like you say alot of charity shops are inundated with clothing, too many to sell through the shops.
